About the Authority

The National Authority for the Investigation and Safety of Civil Aviation Operations (AKISA) is an independent organisation dedicated to aviation safety and the prevention of accidents and incidents, in accordance with the applicable legislation of the Republic of Albania.

Its objective is to improve civil aviation safety by ensuring a high level of efficiency, effectiveness, and quality in civil aviation safety investigations. The sole objective of such investigations is to prevent future accidents and incidents, without attributing blame or liability, including through the establishment of a European Network of Civil Aviation Safety Investigation Authorities.

This Regulation also lays down rules concerning the timely availability of information on all persons and dangerous goods on board an aircraft involved in an accident, and aims to improve assistance to victims of air accidents and their relatives.
